Hi there, and welcome to our little corner of Vermont!

We’re the Thompson family, and Thompson Hollow Apothecary is a reflection of the life we’ve built together.  Simple, intentional, and dedicated to the things we believe matter most.

About 10 years ago, we made the move from Cape Cod to Vermont, trading the familiar for a quieter way of life. It was a big change, but over the years, Vermont became home.

We’ve built a simple, good life hhere. One centered around our family, nature, growing and making things ourselves, and finding joy in the little things.

Life at the Hollow-

Our days are filled with the kinds of things that bring us back to the basics. We garden, stack wood, keep chickens, bake sourdough, preserve food, forage, dehydrate fruits and herbs, and spend plenty of time outdoors. We love knowing where our food comes from and learning the old-fashioned skills that allow us to make more of what we use ourselves.

There’s something special about slowing down and making things by hand. And that philosophy is at the heart of Thompson Hollow Apothecary.

How Thompson Hollow Apothecary Began

My journey into natural wellness began with a desire to understand more about the plants, herbs, and traditional practices that have been used for generations.

That journey eventually led me to become a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, and it completely changed the direction I wanted to take with my life and our family business.

Thompson Hollow Apothecary grew from that passion.

What started as an interest in herbs and natural living became a small family business creating handcrafted herbal teas, tinctures, salves, balms, bath products, tallow skincare, candles, simmer pots, and other goods inspired by the natural world around us.

We make our products in small batches, with care and intention. Whenever possible, we use locally sourced, organic, and high-quality ingredients, and we personally prepare many of the herbs, fruits, and botanicals that go into our products.

More Than Just Products

For us, this business isn't about making the biggest company or producing thousands of products.

It's about creating something meaningful, and complimenting it with knowledge and information.

It's about knowing the people who purchase from us. It's about seeing familiar faces at the farmers market. It's about supporting other small businesses and local growers. It's about teaching our children that good things take time, effort, patience, and a whole lot of heart.

And it's about sharing a little piece of the life we've created here in Vermont with you.

Every bottle, jar, tea blend, waxmelt, and handcrafted item that leaves Thompson Hollow carries a little bit of our story with it.

Family, Home & Community

Thompson Hollow is a family affair.

Our family is involved in the everyday life of the business, from helping behind the scenes to joining us at markets and experiencing the sometimes messy, always rewarding process of building something from the ground up.

We believe in supporting our community, shopping small when we can, learning from one another, and bringing people together.

We call Springfield, Vermont home, and we're grateful for every local customer, market visitor, small business, and friend who has supported us along the way.

 

Why “Thompson Hollow”?

The name Thompson Hollow represents more than just our family name.

It represents home.

A hollow tucked away in the Vermont landscape. The sound of a brook. Trees, gardens, changing seasons, and a slower pace of life.

It represents the life we dreamed about when we left Cape Cod — and the life we've spent the last 10 years building.

It isn't perfect. It's not always easy. But it's ours.

And we're grateful for it every single day.
